Safety by Design
WhatsLove wasn't built and then had safety features bolted on. Safety was the first design principle — the foundation on which everything else was built. And women's safety specifically drove our most important product decisions.
Why We Lead with Voice
Voice-first isn't just about connection — it's our primary safety mechanism.
Voice Verification
Every WhatsLove user completes voice verification. This means:
- Real-time liveness detection — you can't use a recording
- Voice biometric storage — preventing duplicate accounts
- Ongoing authentication — periodic voice checks ensure account integrity
Unlike photo verification, which can be fooled with printed images or deepfakes, voice verification is significantly harder to circumvent.
Intention Detection
Our AI analyzes voice messages for markers of:
- Aggression — escalating volume, hostile intonation
- Manipulation — love bombing patterns, pressure tactics
- Deception — vocal stress indicators associated with dishonesty
When concerning patterns are detected, users are notified and the account is flagged for review.
The SOS System
How It Works
1. Setup: Add up to 5 trusted contacts in your Safety Circle
2. Before a date: Activate Date Mode — your Safety Circle receives your location and date details
3. During a date: Check-in prompts ensure you're safe at regular intervals
4. If you need help: One tap sends an SOS alert with your live location to your Safety Circle and optionally to local emergency services
5. Missed check-in: If you don't respond to a check-in prompt, your Safety Circle is automatically notified
Privacy First
- Location data is encrypted end-to-end
- Data is automatically deleted 24 hours after your date ends
- Only your designated contacts can see your location — not WhatsLove staff
- You control exactly what information is shared
AI-Powered Protection
Conversation Monitoring
Our AI monitors all conversations for:
- Harassment and abusive language
- Scam patterns and financial requests
- Explicit content sent without consent
- Persistent contact after being blocked
Behavioral Analysis
Beyond individual messages, we analyze behavioral patterns:
- Users who are frequently reported (even for minor issues)
- Accounts that match known scam profiles
- Unusual messaging patterns (mass-messaging, scripted conversations)
- Time-of-day patterns associated with problematic behavior
Automated Response
When threats are detected:
- Low severity: User receives a warning
- Medium severity: Account is restricted pending review
- High severity: Account is immediately suspended; affected users are notified
- Criminal behavior: Reported to relevant authorities with available evidence
